Laurens ten Dam
2012 was a special year for Laurens ten Dam. The Maastricht resident is part of the peloton for several years now, but last season he actually proved to belong to the best climbers in the world. In the Tour de France as well as in the Vuelta a España Ten Dam was often to be found at the front of the peloton when climbs were taken on. In the Tour, where he started as a luxury servant of Robert Gesink and Bauke Mollema, it eventually resulted in a 28th place. Therewith Ten Dam was the best Dutchman. In the Tour of Spain, he did even better with an eighth place. Maybe in 2013 there’s more to come from Ten Dam, although he says he will not change because of his success.
“No, I won’t slam my fist on the table and claim a leading role in the Tour. I just keep being Lau.”
